Robert William Lysons, an Insurance Clerk from Stratford-on-Avon, enlisted into the Armed Forces in May 1939 later volunteering for the commandos. Private Lysons joined No.4 Commando later transferring to No.7 Commando. Embarked for the Middle East as part of Layforce. Reported missing later confirmed prisoner of war 20 April 1941 during an operation at Bardia, Cyrenaica, Libya. He served in 'A' Troop of No.4 Commando and 'D' Troop of No.7 Commando. Member of the Commando Association.
