Robert Moran 6 Commando
Served in 4 Troop from 1941 to 1944. Member of the Commando Association.
Robert was born in Scarborough but was from Deans Grange, Dublin. He enlisted in England with the Queens Royal Regiment on 22 August 1940. The following year he volunteered for the Commandos and was subsequently attached to No.6 Commando in 1941.
He left the Commando in 1944 when his Medical Category was downgraded from A1 to A5 and was transferred to the Pay Corps.
Post war Robert remained in service and over the years was stationed abroad at Hong Kong, Egypt,  Zambia, and Nairobi. He retired from the military in 1971 as a WO2 and settled in Carlisle.
In 1994 Robert sustained serious head injuries when out walking after being struck by a car.
Moving to Salisbury in 1999 he lived with his granddaughter and family until he passed away in 2004.
