Fusilier Richard Ellis was reported missing 30 November 1942, later presumed killed in action, during operations in North Africa. He has no known grave. Son of Richard Thomas Ellis and Jean Ellis, of Shotton Colliery, Co. Durham.
His Commando were engaged in an assault on one of a line of flat topped hills known as Green Hill which was held by the enemy and covered the road and railway running from Tabarka to Mateur.
