Westminster Abbey Cloisters Service

Saturday 12th November 2016
Combined Services Memorial
 
The Annual Wreath Laying Service at Westminster Abbey will take place in just over 3 weeks time on Saturday the 12th November 2016 at 2pm in the Cloisters of the Abbey. Please arrive in plenty of time. After the Service there will be an opportunity to view the Book of Remembrance in the Nave, and the Field of Poppies in the grounds of the Abbey.

Fort William Services

The Royal British Legion Scotland website has the following information for those attending the Remembrance Weekend Services and Events. Some additional information on Sunday timings is from The Highland Council.

SATURDAY 12th November 2016

Dawn to dusk vigil held at the Fort William War Memorial. Poppy Crosses will be on sale throughout the vigil, people will be encouraged to place a cross in the "Garden of Remembrance".

SUNDAY 13th November 2016 - Remembrance Sunday

The Fort William Remembrance Day Parade stepping off at 10.45. nb. Those who wish to march the short distance to the War Memorial should assemble earlier at the usual location nearby.

The Branch also takes part in The Commando Memorial Remembrance Day Parade at the Commando Memorial  Spean Bridge - parade steps off at 3pm. nb. Those who wish to join the march to the Commando Memorial should assemble earlier with the march off to the Memorial commencing at 2.45pm from the usual layby nearby on the main road beside the path leading up  to it. Cars should be able to drop off, but not park at this point.

CVA members wishing to be present at the opening of the Field of Poppies at Westminster Abbey on the Thursday ( ticket only-limited numbers), or CVA ex service members wishing to parade at the Cenotaph Service on the Sunday, should email Rich Carr in advance. Just click on his name.
