Surgeon Lieutenant Peter Hodgson RN died from exposure during a training exercise with 42 Commando in Norway. He also served with 42 Commando during Operation Corporate in the Falklands [1][2][3].
Awarded a RN Dental cadetship in 1977 he graduated and joined the CTCRM for his training being awarded his green beret in1980. He was killed when he and his squad from 42 were undergoing routine arctic warfare training in Norway. They were caught in un-forecast full blizzard conditions. Whilst he was supervising his men in the digging of snow holes for shelter, he and Marine Stephen Jacques became very cold and wet, and both later died of hypothermia before rescue could be effected [3].
