Captain Peter Cruden 12 and 6 Commando
Peter Ramsay Cruden was commissioned Second Lieutenant Royal Artillery 22 March 1941[1].
  • Lieutenant in the Parachute Troop of No.12 Commando before No.6 Commando [2][3]
  • 6 June 1944 (Lieutenant) (No.6 Commando) shot and wounded in shoulder by sniper at Normandy [3][3a].
  • 8 November 1945 (Temporary Captain) Mentioned in Despatches for gallant and distinguished service in NW Europe [4].
  • 4 January 1946 transferred to the Black Watch [5].
  • 17 October 1946 (Temporary Captain) approved to wear the Silver Star Medal conferred by the President of the United States of America in recognition of distinguished service in the cause of the Allies [6].
  • Post war tea planter in Assam India. Married Daphne, 3 children, returned to England c.1962/3. Worked for Captain Ryan Price (No.6 Cdo and post war racehorse trainer). Later employed as the late Lord John Cowdray's Polo Manager [7][7a].
