Sergeant Peter Berrisford was awarded the Military Medal in recognition of gallant and distinguished services at Djebel El Azzag (Green Hill), North Africa [1]
Recommendation
After the action on Djebel el Azag on 30th November 1942, Sgt Berrisford lay by himself on the plateau for two nights and one day, gaining all possible information about the German machine-gun positions. He came under a good deal of fire, but did not withdraw until he had carried out his task [2].

He was selected for officer training and, after attending OCTU, received his commission as Second Lieutenant on the 1st July 1944 [3].  He was then posted to the staff of the the C.B.T.C. at Achnacarry [4].
