Private Lloyd Ross was wounded during operations in Italy on 3 February 1944 [1].
At this time his Commando were engaged in operations at Monte Ornito and Monte Faito, Italy. As a Corporal he received a Mention in Despatches in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Italy [2].
Post war, 1947, he was residing in California. The death of "Sgt. Lloyd Vernon Ross (9 Cdo) of Portland, Oregon, U.S.A." was announced to members in Commando Association newsletter 105 issued September 1997 [3].
