Leslie Stables, a Bottle Inspector from Yorkshire, enlisted on 20 June 1940. After volunteering for the Commandos he was attached to No.11 Commando and embarked with them for the Middle East as part of Layforce. Lance Corporal Stables was reported missing 21 November 1941 during operations at Beda Littoria, Libya, later found to be a prisoner of war (Operation Flipper).
