Lance Corporal Kenneth Holmes, 6 troop, was wounded first on 5 October 1943 during operations at Termoli, Italy, and again on 6 June 1944 at Normandy, France. [1][2].
1939 residing Newton Abbott, Devon, employed as an apprentice at a Gents Outfitters and a part time ARP Warden [3].
1942, Police Officer, volunteered for the Commandos and was part of the Police Intakes to the Commando Basic Training Centre, Achnacarry [4].
Post war member of the Commando Association from Teignmouth [5].
1978 Retired Police Officer employed as a Careers Officer, Devon Education Committee [6].

"Ken Holmes (3 Cdo) wishes to remind all concerned that the 23rd July this year is the 50th Anniversary of the first 'Police Intake' into the Commandos, and sends all good wishes to all those young 'coppers' who joined the Commandos by that route. He says that those were happy days."
