Lance Corporal Kenneth Holmes, 6 troop, was wounded first on 5 October 1943 during operations at Termoli, Italy, and again on 6 June 1944 at Normandy, France. [1][2]
1939 residing  Newton Abbott, Devon, employed as an apprentice at a Gents Outfitters and a part time ARP Warden [3].
1942, Police Officer, volunteered for the Commandos and was part of the Police Intakes to the Commando Basic Training Centre, Achnacarry [4].
Post war member of the Commando Association from Teignmouth [5].
1978 Retired Police Officer employed as a Careers Officer, Devon Education Committee [6].

"Ken Holmes (3 Cdo) wishes to remind all concerned that the 23rd July this year is the 50th Anniversary of the first Police Intake* into the Commandos, and sends all good wishes to all those young 'coppers' who joined the Commandos by that route. He says that those were happy days."
