Kenneth Claude Baker No.1 Commando
Private Kenneth Baker was seriously wounded 23 February 1943 during operations in North Africa and was medically discharged from the Army on 31August 1943.
Kenneth Claude Baker joined the West Sussex Constabulary in 1939. He was single and residing at Havelock Road, Bognor Regis. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 and joined the 2nd Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. A former goalkeeper with Worthing Wednesday Football Club he re-joined the Police and served as a Constable at Worthing Police Station until retiring in June 1969. Awarded the British Empire Medal (Civil Division) for his Police service announced in the 1970 New Years' Honours Listing.
