Trooper John Fletcher was wounded 5 October 1943 during operations at Termoli, Italy. He had volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 as part of the Police Intakes. In 1939 he was a Police Officer residing at 77 Cusworth Lane, Doncaster. Post war for many years John was Secretary of the Yorkshire Branch of the Commando Association.
