18.07.1932 attested into the Scots Guards aged 18, civil occupation Labourer. Military service included deployment to Egypt.
22.12.1936 transferred to Army Reserve to join the Police.
1939, Police Constable, warrant number 9267,Bishopsgate Police Station, City of London.
WW2 
01.12.1939 Mobilized Scots Guards.
1940 deployed Norway April. Returned UK June.
18.09.1942 reverts to Guardsman own request on posting to Commando Depot, Achnacarry.
24.09.1942 posted No.3 Commando at Achnacarry. 
14.07.1943 Lance Sergeant, No.3 Commando, gunshot wounds to hip, leg and neck in Sicily.
12.10.1943 re-joins No.3 Commando from hospital.
30.10.1943 promoted Sergeant.
25.05.1944 left Commando on posting Scots Guards Training Battalion at Pirbright Camp. 
10.08.1945 released Class 'B' Reserve to re-join the City of London Police.
Post WW2
1947, Police Sergeant at the Police Training Centre, Walsall Road, Cannock, Staffordshire.
1962 employed in the Recruiting Office for the City of London Police.
Member of the Commando Association residing Chaldon, Surrey.
