John Gambon 43RM Commando
Enlisted Royal Marines aged 18 at RM Lympstone 22 January 1942.  Released Class 'A' 30 May 1946.

His son Phil adds, "My father  was the 6th of 10 children. His father Frank served with the Kings Liverpool Regiment from 1911 to 1919 and fought at Mons, Festubert, and other places. As a child we would go on holiday to Devon with Uncles, Aunties and Cousins in a convoy, and on passing Lympstone, each and every person in our convoy would salute. Always a joy and a great source of pride. Unfortunately I was only 25 when Dad died  so I didn’t get the benefit of his stories as much as some of my older cousins."
