John Dent was a Police Officer in 1939 residing in Hartlepool, Durham. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 joining the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. Posted 6 Troop No.3 Commando. Active service included Italy, France, and the advance into Germany. Released from military service 28 September 1945. Re-joined the Police residing Bishop Auckland, County Durham. Member of the Commando Association.
