Born in America to English parents. Educated St Bede’s College, Manchester and Upholland College, Wigan. Roman Catholic Padre HQ 1 Special Service Brigade attached on D Day to No.4 Commando. Wounded on D Day at Normandy when a mortar shell exploded behind him shattering his shoulder, his rucksack including mass kit, etc. undoubtedly saving his life. The damaged Chalice in his rucksack is on display at the Royal Army Chaplain's Museum. Post war in 1975 he was at the Sacred Heart Presbytery, Gorton, Manchester.
