Honours & Awards: 
Private John Farquhar, a veteran of the St. Nazaire raid, was awarded the Military Medal in recognition of gallant and distinguished service during operations West of the Garigliano River, Italy on the night of 29/30 December 1943 [1][2].
Recommendation
This man was wounded in the leg during the assault on the demolished bridge position. 
In spite of this he carried on, attacking the enemy with grenades, and when the enemy ran away he chased them and captured two single handed. He crossed the river unaided and did not disclose the fact that he was wounded until the crossing had been completed [2][2a].
  • 28 March 1942 embarked on motor launch ML443 for Operation Chariot at St. Nazaire. Evacuated back to the UK [3].
  • Post war member of the Commando Association last known residing Chiswick, London [4].
