Lance Corporal John Crapnell was reported missing during operations in North Africa on 26 February 1943 (Battle for Steamroller Farm) later found to be a prisoner of war.

Notes
There is some confusion on the POW Records with one showing Stalag 4B and another 4C. However the POW files formerly held at the Infantry Record Office, Warwick,also show 4C.
