Enlisted 2nd Bn. The Liverpool Scottish, Queens Own Cameron Hdrs. (T.A.) April 1939. Volunteered for Special Service 22 April 1940. Posted to No.4.Independent Company at Sizewell. Proceeded for service in Norway with 'Scissors Force' which was part of North-West Expeditionary Force under the command of A/Lt-Col. Colin McVey Gubbins. Embarked Gourock 05/05/40 for Moesjoen, Norway. Evacuated from from Bodo by HMS. 'Havelock'. Transferred at sea to HMS. 'Vindictive'. Disembarked Stromness 01/06/40. Returned to unit. Posted out to Cameron Highlanders serving with 2/Camerons, North Africa. Prisoner of war (rank Private) at fall of Tobruk 21 June 1942 until 26 April 1945. Repatriated to UK. Released from service 25 November 1945.
