Marine James Holloway was found dead on board the RFA Fort Rosalie which was moored in Dubai.
A Royal Navy spokesman said: "We can confirm that Marine James Holloway died aboard RFA Fort Rosalie. The cause of death is still under investigation, however we can confirm it was not as a result of operational activity.
