James Collins, a Plumber's Mate from Dunfermline, enlisted into the Royal Marines 20 April 1943. Wounded (shrapnel right leg) and reported missing 7 June 1944 Normandy. Prisoner of war 8 June 1944. Treated in a hospital near Paris until the end of July 1944. Transferred to captivity at Marlag und Milad Nord. Escaped from a line march and hid in a farmhouse awaiting the American Army.
