John Robert Bradley, a Farm Horseman, enlisted into the Armed Forces 30 May 1940 later volunteering for the commandos. He joined No.7 Commando embarking with them for the Middle East forming 'A' Battalion of Layforce. Private Bradley was reported missing in Crete, subsequently confirmed a prisoner of war on 1 June 1941. After repatriation to the UK in 1945 he was residing in Girvan, Ayrshire.
