Operations:
Iorwerth Cyrus Thomas, a Welsh Labourer, enlisted 26 September 1940. He later volunteered for Special Service and was attached to No.3 Commando. Lance Sergeant Thomas, 6 Troop, was reported missing during operations at the Punta del Malati Bridge, Sicily. He was last seen with his Section soon after withdrawal from the bridge, later renamed 3 Commando Bridge, crossing the large field towards the orange groves on the left hand side of the road, on his way to take up a position on the hills. Later confirmed prisoner of war. Liberated 17 April 1945.
