Cemetery/Memorial: 
Private Harry Hancock, 'C' Bn Layforce, was reported missing 9 June 1941 during operations at Litani River, Syria, later reported no longer missing. He went onto serve with the Middle East Commandos before being posted to Burma with the Special Service Detachment where he was again reported missing on 13 August 1942, later confirmed as killed in action. He has no known grave. Son of Harry and Millicent Hancock, of Denaby Main. Yorkshire.

  • 'C' Bn Layforce was primarily No.11 Commando.
  • Pte. Hancock is listed by the CWGC by Regiment only. The Casualty Lists for 1943 record him as Middle East Commando. A Specil Service Detachment was sent to Burma with many from there as part of Military Mission 204.
