Mentioned in Despatches for distinguished service in the Far East [2].
Educated at Radley College. Ordained 1931. Curate at St. Helen's Lancashire [3].
Attached to RM Commandos 1943. His Brigadier later wrote "He did magnificently and had he lived was to have been recommended for the D.S.C. His complete disregard for his own safety throughout the landing was an absolute model. He brought back the wounded to the beach and then walked calmly back into the battle in spite of heavy gun fire and continuous sniping" [3].

In the book @ [1a] above, the author states that Rev. Manger was killed by the accidental discharge of a rifle. 
In the Third Jungle Book issue 9 listed below he is shown as killed in action.
