Gilbert Brown was a Metropolitan Police Constable in 1939 residing at Gilmour Police Section House, Renfrew Road, Lambeth. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 and joined the 1st Police Intake to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), at Achnacarry. After completing his commando training he was attached to No.1 Commando. Active service included Africa and Burma. Discharged from military service February 1946. Post war member of the Commando Association from Streatham Hill, London.
