George Leonard Johnson from Leicester enlisted into the Royal Marines on 26 August 1941, civil occupation Railway Shunter and Porter. Corporal Johnson, 41RM Commando, was wounded and taken prisoner of war 6 June 1944 during operations near Caen, France.
