Frank Reginald Farnsworth enlisted into the Royal Artillery 16 January 1941, civil occupation Window Dresser. He volunteered for the Commandos and was attached to No.3 Commando. Gunner Farnsworth was reported missing 14 July 1943 during operations at Sicily and Malati Bridge (3 Commando Bridge), later confirmed prisoner of war captured on 20 July 1943. He escaped on 1 April 1945 but was recaptured 14 days later. After liberation resided on a farm in Watnall, Nottinghamshire. Member of the Commando Association.
