Frederick Thomas Powell enlisted in the Royal Marines on 3 December 1935, civil occupation Farming. In WW2 Marine Powell, 45RM Commando was wounded and captured 27 January 1945 during operations at Bell Isle, south of Roermond, Netherlands. On 27 March 1945 he escaped into nearby woods from a walking transport of 1,000 prisoners moving East from Limburg.
