Marine Ernest Taylor, 'A' Troop, died of wounds during a small raid across the River Mass to the German held north bank of the river. 41RM Commando had been tasked with patrolling a large stretch of the river between the Island of Schouwen and Geertruidenberg.

Werkendam Protestant Cemetery
There was an emergency hospital (German) in Werkendam where the wounded were cared for, and those who died there are buried in the village cemetery. (Source: CWGC.)
