Marine Eric Kenyon, married and from Halifax, died in a road traffic accident when the motor cycle combination he was riding crashed on the road from Penzance to the Royal Naval Air Station at Culdrose, Helston, where he was temporarily attached from his unit at RM Bickleigh. The Coroner later recorded a verdict of accidental death. Two other marines from the same unit were injured in the accident, William Gordon Gale and Frank Elliott. All three were taken by ambulance to West Cornwall Hospital but Marine Kenyon died whilst en route.
