Edward Spinks was a serving Police Officer who volunteered for the Commandos joining them in June 1942 as part of the 1st Police Intake. He served in 3 Troop and was wounded during operations at Grohote, Solta, on 18 March 1944. After recovering from his wounds he served in the Special Investigation Branch ending as a Warrant Officer.
In 1939 he was a Police Constable residing at the Police Section House, Ambroseden Ave., Westminster. Resuming his police service post war he retired in 1969.
