Notes
The CWGC show no secondary unit when killed in 1944. The Casualty List shows 'Special Service' as his secondary unit when wounded in 1941. Amongst the units operating in Crete on this date in 1941 was Layforce, a special service commando assault group.  Casualty Lists covering those who served in Layforce often show varied titles as secondary units, eg. 'A' or 'D' Bn Layforce,  Commando, or Special Special Bn. As we do not have access to Service Records, the name of LCpl. McKenna has been added to our Layforce archive in the hope that verification, or otherwise, of any Commando Service will be forthcoming in the future.
