Corporal Edward Douglas, 5 troop, was awarded the Military Medal in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the field. He was one of the Commando contingent on board Motor Launch ML 177 for Operation Chariot, and one of only five men from those who landed at St Nazaire, that evaded capture and escaped through France back to the UK [1][2][3].
Edward Douglas from Huyton, Liverpool, was employed as a Meat Salesman before the war. Whilst No.2 Commando were in Ayr he was billeted at 40 Seafield Drive, Ayr. He was the Lance Sergeant of 5 troop, 'A' Section, 2 Sub-Section [4].
1948 resided Ayr, Scotland [5]. Member of the Commando Association last residing Windsor, Berkshire [6].
