In 1939 Edmund Burke was a Police Constable based at the Police Station in Rectory Lane, Woodstock. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 joining the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic training Centre), Achnacarry. On completion of his training Private Burke was attached to No.1 Commando. Post war member of the Commando Association with whom they lost contact.
