Edward Biddiscombe joined Hampshire Constabulary on 24 March 1941 and was appointed Police Constable 512 on 4 April 1941. He volunteered for commando service in 1942 and joined HM Forces 23 July 1942, the date of the 2nd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), at Achnacarry. On completion of his training he was posted to No.1 Commando. Lance Bombardier Edward Biddiscombe, HQ Troop, No.1 Commando, was wounded on 31 January 1945 during operations at Kangaw, Burma. Member of the Commando Association from Upper Lydbrook, Gloucestershire.
Edward rejoined Hampshire Constabulary at Bournemouth on 27 April 1946. He retired from the Police 8 May 1974 in the rank of Chief Inspector.
