Lance Sergeant Denis Hewitt, 6 Troop, was wounded in France on the 15th August 1944.
Denis was a Police Constable residing at West Bridgford who volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 as part of the Police Intakes to the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre). He re-joined the Police post war and in 1967 was Chief Inspector at the County Police Station, Mansfield Woodhouse, Notts. Member of the Commando Association.
