Marine Thomas Leonard died at the Civil Hospital, Corfu, Greece.  3 weeks before his death his Commando were engaged in a successful operation to liberate the island.

Corporal George McKenna died in Corfu. His Commando were engaged in policing operations there after recently liberating the island. He received a Mention in Despatches for devotion to duty during operations in the Mediterranean theatre covering a period from 1st April to 10th September, 1944.
