Clarence Allen, an Iron Moulder from Shropshire, enlisted 4 February 1938. Volunteered for the Independent Companies when they were raised in April 1940. Posted No.2 Independent Company. Embarked with Expeditionary Force to Norway 10 May 1940. Reported missing in action 26 May 1940 Norway, later confirmed a prisoner of war. Forced labour in timber yard and coal mines close to camp. Escaped twice each time being recaptured.
