22 June 1940 Commanding Officer of No.2 (Parachute) Commando on formation at Perham Down. Unit re-designated 11 Special Air Service Battalion 22 November 1940. Remained as OC until June 1941.

In February 1941 a new No.2 Commando was raised under Lt. Colonel Newman.
