Lance Sergeant Blattner, 5 troop, was killed in action at Dragone Hill, Salerno, as the enemy attacked down the valley of La Molina towards Vietri. Son of Julian and Mary Blattner [1][2][3].
Charles William Blattner from Haddington, East Lothian, was employed as a Motor Lorry Driver before the war. Whilst No.2 Commando were in Ayr he was billeted at 31 Auchentrae Crescent, Ayr, and was the Lance Sergeant of 5 Troop 'B' Section, No.4 Sub-Section [3].
