Rifleman Alfred Stapleton was killed in action during operations at Kangaw, Burma. Son of George and Alice Stapleton, of Kilburn, Middlesex.
In 1939 Alfred William Stapleton was a Police Constable residing at 45 Judd Road, Tonbridge, Kent. He volunteered for the Commandos in 1942 and was posted to the 3rd Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. After completing the training he was posted to No.5 Commando.
