Major Adam Whitmarsh received the Queen's Commendation for Valuable Service in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in the field [1]. At the time he was based on Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) ship Fort Victoria as the chief of staff for the UK's counter-piracy task group [2].
