Fusilier Fairbridge served in No.4 Commando before embarking with Layforce for the Middle East. He was reported missing during operations at Cyrenaica on 20 April 1941 (Bardia Raid) later found to be a prisoner of war.

Notes
The Casualty Record shows No.4 Commando however they did not operate in the Middle East. Nos 4 and 7 Commandos were merged as 3 Special Service Bn., for a short period prior to Layforce embarking for the Middle East. They then reverted to their original titles however several of the No.4 Commandos volunteered for Layforce and embarked with them.
