Sergeant Cassidy was wounded 14 July 1943 during operations at Agnone, Sicily, and the bridge at Malati (3 Commando Bridge). 
09.01.1933 enlisted Royal Artillery.
11.03.1938 discharged from the Army.
27.06.1938 joined the Metropolitan Police. Posted Hornsey, 'N' Division.
23.06.1942 re-enlisted Armed Forces after volunteering for the commandos and posted to the 1st Police Intake at the Commando Depot (Commando Basic Training Centre), Achnacarry. Regiment allocated Royal Fusiliers. Posted No.3 Commando on completion of course.
21.09.1945 re-joined the Metropolitan Police.
30.06.1968 retired from the Metropolitan Police, rank Police Sergeant.
