Extract from a report by OC 6 Troop on Operation Roast
The C.O. told me to return and let 5 Troop know the plan detailing 6 Troop as fire unit. I sent off my runner again to Major Callf MC to give him these orders and he returned with news that Capt. Bassett-Wilson MC had been killed, plus another 4 killed and 4 wounded in the Troop. After the Artillery bombardment had finished, the 6 Troop fire unit fired 150 LMG magazines in support of the 1 and 2 Troop attack. Cpl. Fraser, Pte. Bradshaw, Gnr. Hill and Pte. Keefe, all wounded helped fill magazines and pass them up to the gunners [3].
