James Thomas O'Rourke was a Merchant Seaman before enlisting into the Royal Marines on 23 June 1942. He later joined 46RM Commando sometime after its formation in August 1943 and served in 'B' Troop. He was captured by the enemy on 11 June 1944 at Normandy, France. On return to the UK in 1945 he resided in Slough, Berkshire.
