Leslie John Dickerson, a Wood Machinist from Ipswich, enlisted into the Armed Forces 29 April 1939. Private Dickerson, R.A.M.C. attached No.7 Commando (Layforce), was reported missing during operations at Crete on 2 June 1941, later confirmed a prisoner of war. He was ill with Diptheria for 6 weeks during his captivity.
