Donald Matthews, a Storeman from Winchester, Hampshire, enlisted 16 March 1940 and later volunteered for the Commandos. Private Matthews, 52 Middle East Commando, was reported missing 2 June 1941 during operations at Crete, later found to have been captured the previous day.
