Sergeant Godfrey Vasey was reported missing during early Italian beach reconnaissance at Bova Marina, Italy, a year later being confirmed killed in action.
Godfrey Vasey moved to Worthing in 1930 from Devonshire. Enlisted in 1939. Evacuated from Dunkirk 1940. Volunteered for the Commandos 1941 and joined No.3 Commando. Active service included Vaagso, Dieppe, North Africa and Malati Bridge at Sicily. Married Miss Ayda Gibson Johnstone Philips of Largs, March 1942, at St. John's Church, Largs.
